I made a level converter sort of like the one [[http://sodoityourself.com/max232-serial-level-converter/|here]]. Only with five 1.0 uf capacitors. According to the [[http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/27230/TI/MAX232N.html|datasheet of the max232]] the capacitors can be 1.0 or 0.1 uf.
